Choosing which certificates to lead with on German applications

Not every certificate deserves the first page. A practical order for engineers targeting suppliers, plant operators, and design offices in Germany.

Stack of professional documents and certificates

German employers often ask for certificates, but stuffing every PDF into the first email creates noise. Lead with the items that prove you can do the advertised work: relevant degree documents, key safety or welding qualifications if the role needs them, and language certificates only when the vacancy states a level.

Secondary items — short online courses, expired credentials, or certificates unrelated to the role — belong in an appendix or on request. If you are relocating, clarify which documents are originals versus certified copies once an employer asks; do not flood the first application.

Autosysplatform helps clients build a document order that matches the vacancy, not a single static pack sent to every plant in the country.
